The story so far is I have written a book.

I’ve always wanted to write a book and now I have ticked that box and I have to say I am really proud of myself for completing it.

I have written a book all about Liverpool Football Club during the 2018/19 season, all the way from pre-season right the way through to winning the Champions League in Madrid at the start of the month. It’s taken me 11 months to write it and after they won the cup and brought it home to the most amazing homecoming, I have a finished manuscript and am wondering what to do next.

I’ve written this book in secret. Not a secret as such, I just haven’t told anyone I was doing it. I’ve just been beavering away when no-one was looking. I haven’t researched what to do when you’ve finished writing a book or spoken to publishers, or really done anything useful. I’ve just been writing my book – and working a full time job and trying to be a good husband and dad.

So after digging around on Google, I found out all the things you need to do and eventually decide that I am going to self-publish my book (in the absence of any publishers offering to do it for me, obviously). I have put together a list of all the things I need to do.

First of all, I have to tell my wife that I’ve spent the best part of the last year writing a book!! Then I have to find some people to read the book and tell me if it’s any good. Then I have to get it registered, edited, formatted, designed, uploaded, printed, published and marketed. Sounds easy when you say it all like that, doesn’t it.

To begin with it doesn’t look so easy, in fact it looks like a bit of a mountain to climb. But every mountain is climbed with a series of single steps and I am working through each one of those steps to get my book published. Apparently, writing a book is about 90% of the job, so I only have 10% left to do

One of the parts of my marketing plan is to have a blog – this blog. I’ve never written a blog before either, much less created a blog page with my own URL. So while I’m learning how to publish a book, I am also learning about blogs.

So this – my blog – is the blog of the book, Let’s Talk About Six. It’s my own mini-franchise! And in this blog I’m going to talk about all the different things I am learning and doing to get my book launched – and then post launch, all the things I am doing to promote it.

Hopefully, if I get my social media activity right, someone might even read my blog – and then make them want to buy my book…that’s what I’m thinking anyway.

So if you are reading this, please help out. Leave a comment, give me some advice, like and share all the social media channels – any help greatly appreciated!!

Cheers, Chris
